Phonological and Phonemic Awareness with researched-based, Heggerty and UFLI.
Teachers at The SBPA have been trained in the science of reading, utilizing the research-based program, Heggerty and UFLI. Both programs provide a Tier I and Tier 2 support for our students as they grow and learn phonological and phonemic awareness.
Foundational reading begins with understanding the sounds our letters make, and then letter sound correlation.
The introduction of lowercase into uppercase letters is sequenced to include the most common letters used in reading and writing.
Sound articulation is an imperative component to learning letters and letter sounds. A sound wall and sound cards provide visual supports for students to see placement of their mouth, tongue, and teeth as they articulate the sounds.

Language Arts, Math, & Science are Rooted in Thematic & Investigative Units.
Allowing students to explore, engage in play-based, and investigative learning across all core modalities, provides deeper understanding of concepts and skills, leading to a ongoing mastery.
Sensory processing skills, social emotional regulation, and peer interaction are incorporated into daily lessons and activities. The incorporation of skills are interconnected and foundational for student development, academic success, and overall well-being.

The SBPA utilizes Missouri Early Learning standards as well as the Missouri Learning Standards to meet the needs of our students; allowing for personalized growth and goals, preparing students for a strong foundation of reading comprehension.
The Sage Bee Prep Academy Mathematical Units
The SBPA incorporates Missouri's Early Learning and Kindergarten Standards to meet the individual needs of our students as they progress in their foundational math fluency. The Units are designed to build a strong foundation for future success in mathematics by fostering number sense, problem-solving skills, and confidence. A play-based, hands-on approach to math in real-world situations allows students to gain a deeper understanding.

Student Progress Mastery Rubrics
Student Progress Mastery Reports provide detailed, data-driven information regarding individual and class learning. The information allows teachers to adjust lessons, identify student strengths, misunderstanding, and track student growth towards learning goals. The Progress Mastery Rubrics ensure students master essential concepts fostering a deeper understanding and improved academic performance while communicating specific strengths and weaknesses to the parent or guardian. At The SBPA, Student Progress Mastery consist of individualized 6-8 week monitoring and instruction, towards student goals. Ultimately, our focus is to ensure all students enter kindergarten and beyond with developmental, emotional, and academic success.
